Tamara's Work Supporting the TLC

October 10, 2005

Dear friends at TotallyTamara.com:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the rest of the "Totally Tamara" fans for your very generous donation of $2,500 to the Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind in honor of Tamara Braun. TLC provides day, residential, and after school programs for individuals challenged with developmental disabilities and visual impairments/blindness. Your contribution will be utilized to enhance therapeutic and recreational activities through our music therapy and recreational programs.

The positive outcomes of music therapy fall into the categories of intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. The intrinsic rewards are the creativity associated with self-expression, skills development (musical, motor) and the sense of self-esteem when one's efforts are recognized. The extrinsic values are more readily measured: performance skills, the ability to begin and end a piece, the ability to stay focused, and the recognition that what's being presented is an actual piece of music.

Recreational activities enhance the quality of life for our constituency. TLC's clients are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities both at home and in the community, including swimming, park trips, crafts, and cooking activities, to name a few. It is these types of activities that add to the richness of life's experiences.

We are the most appreciative of your support. TLC's growth and ability to provide a variety of experiences and programs for our constituency are accomplished through the generosity of individuals and groups such as yours. Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Cyndi McAuley
